Donald W. Hunt

<p>Falmouth – Donald W. Hunt, 75 of Cumberland Foreside, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was born in Norway on April 28, 1948, the son of H. William (Bill) and Verna (Thompson) Hunt. Donald graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1967. After school he joined the Army and served his country in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.</p><p>He married Sylvia Bell on July 5, 1968 and together they raised two sons. Don was often a mentor and advocate to several of his sons’ friends. He worked for years at A.J. Cole and Sons, where he led the company’s expansion into the Portland market. He then went on to own and operate several businesses over the years, including an automotive recycling &amp; salvage yard in Columbia, SC. He enjoyed repairing and restoring cars and he spent many hours woodworking in his basement shop. He also had a love for German Shepherds, Strawberry Shortcake and any pie Sylvia would bake for him. Those who knew him best will fondly remember his dry, witty sense of humor.</p><p>He is survived by his wife Sylvia of Cumberland Foreside, sons Dennis and wife Lorraine of Yarmouth and Troy of Cumberland Foreside, and two grandchildren Sierra and Trevor.</p><p>A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer.
