<p>The world lost a special sparkle on April 13, 2019 when Charlotte “Charlie” Buikema, of Sunrise Beach, passed away after 68 years of loving life. She was born on June 30, 1950 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. </p><p> Charlie was a fun-loving, friendly character who considered it her life mission to create a good time. As the concierge at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Hotel, she enjoyed telling visitors about the exciting adventures to be had while staying in the Texas Hill Country. </p><p> Charlie was a long-time resident of Sunrise Beach and was very involved in the community. She knew everybody. Most will remember her for writing the Sunrise Beach column in the Highlander. She served on various committees, including CTEC, and attended many chamber events. </p><p> She was also a caretaker for a few clients who she referred to as “her ladies.” They were like family to Charlie. When one of ‘her ladies’ recently passed away, Charlie adopted her dog, Lovey. Charlie’s dogs, Diva and Lovey were a very special part of her life. &nbsp; </p><p> Celebration of life will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Avenue, in Kingsland with Brittany Carrington officiating. Charlie will be interred at Sandy Mountain Cemetery in her beloved community of Sunrise Beach. The world lost a special sparkle on April 13, 2019 when Charlotte “Charlie” Buikema, of Sunrise Beach, passed away after 68 years of loving life. She was born on June 30, 1950 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Charlie was a fun-loving, friendly character who considered it her life mission to create a good time. As the concierge at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Hotel, she enjoyed telling visitors about the exciting adventures to be had while staying in the Texas Hill Country.
