Dennis “Craig” Dunn, aged 63 of Union Furnace, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan.  

Born October 7, 1959 in Nelsonville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Junior and Denise Marie “Jimmie” (Powell) Dunn.

Craig was a decades-long sports editor and writer for both the Logan Daily News and Logan-Hocking Times. He had the honor of being inducted into both the Logan High School Hall of Fame and the Ohio Sports Writers Hall of Fame. Most recently, he received the Chieftain Star Award at the 2023 Spear Awards ceremony at Logan High School. Craig was awarded two Ohio News Media Association Hopper Awards for the Logan-Hocking Times, first place for Best Sports Feature and third place for Sports Coverage.

Despite all of his accolades, what Craig treasured most were the numerous relationships he built with the many athletes, coaches and parents through the years. He loved his career, but understood it was all about the young athletes on the court and field. Craig’s love of the sports scene in Logan was unmatched, and his absence will be felt by all those who loved and respected him.

In addition to his love of Logan Athletics, when “off the field”, Craig was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Columbus Blue Jackets fan and the #1 supporter of his family.

He is survived by his sister, Lucinda V. “Cindy” (Dunn) Lawson and great-nephew, Robert Dennis Lawson, both of Union Furnace, Ohio.

Besides his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his nephew, Dennis Lawson (2014).

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Logan Church of the Nazerene, 650 Walhonding Avenue, Logan, Ohio 43138 with Pastor Dave Sherman officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
