<p>Memorial Service Friday June 2nd at 10:00 AM</p><p>in the Funeral Home</p><p><br></p><p>After fighting a heroic battle with cancer, Ruth Simmons, of Stockton Missouri passed away on May 22,2023 in the loving care of Lake Stockton Family Healthcare Facility. </p><p><br></p><p> Being raised in rural Missouri and living in a time when people took care of one another, helped to develop the amazing woman that we knew and loved. She loved to be outdoors in a variety of ways. First, was her love of gardening. She grew a big garden at her home and would often be found sharing her harvest with whoever was around. She also loved to fish with her husband Kent. They would spend countless hours on the rivers and creeks surrounding their home. They had a big love of bowling as well and would be found all over the state doing what they loved. The two of them soon developed a love for golfing and spent many hours hitting the ball up and down the courses in the local area. She was also one of the best cooks that ever lived. She made many different foods that the people around her looked forward to. She made the best oatmeal cookies, homemade noodles, and sharing her bounty of fish that she caught in a fish fry. She most importantly loved her husband Kent, who she was married to for 43 years, with everything she was. You would very rarely see one of one without the other. </p><p><br></p><p>Ruth was always trying to find a way to help those around her. Though she had no kids herself, she was constantly taking her nephews and nieces to do different things. She would take them fishing, swimming or even golfing with her. On one occasion, her brother Leroy was fighting a battle with cancer. He was in need of a life saving bone marrow transplant. Being a match was not something she shied away from, but selflessly gave her marrow and saved Leroys life, extending his life for many years. </p><p><br></p><p>Preceding her in death are her parents Elmer and Jewel Burns, Brother Leroy Burns, Sisters Wilma Nash and Lucile Bowen, Brothers in law, Paul Nash, Joe Ben Essex, Merlyn Bowen and a sister in law Beverly Burns. Left to grieve her loss are her husband Kent Simmons of Stockton, 2 brothers Loyd Burns and Ruthie of Stockton, and Larry Burns of Stockton. A sister Norma Jean Essex of Humansville and a sister in law Angie Burns. She had countless nephews and nieces that she treated as her own as well as many other great and great-great nephews and nieces. </p><p><br></p><p>There will be a celebration of life at 10 AM on Friday, June 2 at Bland-Brumback Funeral Home. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
