Alice Georgina Snook

<p>Alice was a wonderful mother to Linda, Marilyn, Wayne and Karen and mother-in-law to John, Tony and Lloyd. She truly cherished her loving relationship to her daughter in-law, Donna. The only people she could have loved more were her grandchildren; Penny, Christopher, Myra, Kelly, Lacey, Sarah and Bradley. She helped raise her grandchildren that lived near her and was elated when the others visited. Her unconditional love and care will forever be remembered. Her joy was surpassed with the arrival of her great grandchildren; Melanie, Michael, Henry, Wes and baby, Simon who she truly cherished. Alice also had special relationships with many of her nieces and nephews; she dearly loved hearing from them.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice was a dedicated member of her church for many years. A lifetime member of the St. Bartholomew’s ACW and Alter Guild. She loved to share happy times with her friends especially her memories of time spent planning and practicing for annual concerts. These annual events were one of the many ways she helped support her church. Alice supported her community whenever and where ever possible. She worked for many years at the old Cottage Hospital and finished her working career at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Merrill, her parents, Henry and Martha Skinner and In-laws, George J. and Alice Snook. Alice was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters; Elsie (Morgan) Snook, Julia Mullins, Rose (Henry J Mullins), Albert (Gladys) Skinner, Melita (Arch White), (Leonard (Venita) Skinner and Alex Skinner. She also leaves to mourn a sister-in-law, Mildred Skinner and dear friend, Mary Wells. </p><p><br></p><p>In the past few years as Alice’s health declined, she was fortunate to have received excellent home care from some wonderful caregivers, especially Janice Pierce and Kendra Campbell. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitations took place at Spencer’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm and on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Service took place at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Harbour Breton, on Saturday, May 27th, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Vallis officiating.
