Edith Baker Obituary

Edith V. Baker, age 95 years, of Hillsborough, NJ, former longtime resident of Rosemont, NJ, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at home, with her loving daughters Debra and Patricia by her side.

Born on September 30, 1927, in Lumberville, PA, daughter of the late Frank and Edith Updegrove Feiler, she was raised in Lumberville and had lived in Lambertville, NJ, prior to moving to Rosemont, NJ, in 1960.

A graduate of New Hope-Solebury High School, Edith was a true "Jack of All Trades" and will be forever remembered by all who knew her as a woman that never met a stranger as anyone she met, was a friend.

Never shying away from hard work, Edith liked to be there for others in a helping role. She enjoyed seeing others thrive and be happy and she was known to assist her elderly neighbors with everything from getting groceries to fixing their homes. This was also a feat for Edith in many ways, especially because she never learned to drive! She did all that she did via a bicycle, and many in the south areas of Hunterdon County will fondly recall her riding the countryside with a smile and a wave.

Being the fourth of six children born during the depression era, Edith made certain nothing went to waste and she was known to stretch all "things" as much as possible, while reminding everyone that what really matters is the relationships between family, friends, and neighbors. A phenomal cook, there was never NOT having a second plate when Edith was cooking, and her food was so good one often went back for thirds!

Loving nature and its inhabitants, Edith greatly enjoyed bird-watching and had names for all of "her" deer, foxes and squirrels.

Though the last several years had been difficult for Edith physically, the love she put out over the years helping other just because it was the right thing to do, came back upon her tenfold. Her legacy of giving love and compassion to others, freely and without condition, will not soon be forgotten.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her cherished husband of forty-six years, Russell Baker, who died in 1997. The pair, happily married on May 27, 1950, balanced each other well, and Russell remained in Edith's heart until her passing.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Adams and Jose Castro and Patricia and Eric Ericson; her grandchildren, Lisa Lippincott and her partner, Ryan Crane, Brian and his wife, Melissa Lippincott, Kyle Ericson, and Colleen and her husband, Ryan O'Hara; her great grandson, Jeffrey Crane; several extended family members; and many dear friends.

Life celebration services and burial in Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ, were private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
