Anna Parr Obituary

Anna Parr passed away at the Russell & District Health Centre on May 24th, 2023 at the age of 63 years.

Anna is survived by her son Jameson Parr, brother Terry (Susan) Fingas, and sister Leasa Schmelzle; nephews Samuel (Aarti), Travis (Nicole), Dion, Cody (Alyssa), and niece Hannah and many great nieces and nephews.

Anna was predeceased by her parents Eddie and Dora Fingas, and brother-in-law Dennis Schmelzle.

Anna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 22, 1959. She attended multiple schools growing up including Inglis and Russell, MB and Outlook, SK. She married Miles Parr on August 30, 1986 and they lived in Russell, MB where they raised their family. Miles and Anna divorced and then Anna moved to Grandview for a few years before returning back to Russell.

Anna had various jobs, from working at the daycare, to working for parkland linc. and in various hospitality jobs around Russell ending her working career at the Russell Personal Care Home. 

Anna enjoyed cooking, baking, and collecting recipes. Family was the most important part of her life and she loved everyone.

Anna was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in July 2021, and underwent various treatments. She  was eventually admitted into Russell Hospital on March 22nd and was a resident there until her passing. 

The funeral service and interment was held on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 at Freefield South Cemetery, Inglis, MB with Rev. David Howell officiating.

Many thanks to Aunt Alice who went above and beyond for Anna as well as her sister Leasa. Anna had a message for her healthcare workers - “Thank you to the awesome staff at Russell and District Health Centre. You were all fantastic caregivers from housekeeping to kitchen to nursing and healthcare aids. Dr. Pieterse and Dr. Honiball, Lisa and Danielle, thank you for the fantastic care at Cancer Care, I could not have asked for a better team.”
