Phyllis Janice Berumen

June 6, 1957 – May 21, 2023

Phyllis Janice Berumen, 65, affectionately known as “My Philly”, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend to many. Phyllis was born Thursday, June 6, 1957 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Eliseo & Leonila “Nellie” (Castro) Berumen.

Phyllis worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse most of her career in order to support her family. She lovingly cared for all of her patients and worked hard until she no longer could due to health issues. She enjoyed family gatherings, reading & listening to books and cherished her friendships. Phyllis will be missed by all who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by her son Joshua (Calli) Campos of Caldwell, ID; father, Eliseo “Gerald” Berumen of Rocky Ford; 9 grandchildren, including Amara Campos who resided with her until she could no longer care for her; siblings, Elizabeth Harlan of Colorado Springs, CO; Gerald Berumen of Rocky Ford; and Cynthia Graston of Pueblo West, CO; special cousin/sister, Beverly Rodriguez of Rocky Ford who was very close with Phyllis. She is preceded in death by her children, Adam, William, Abraham, and Eric Campos; mother, Leonila “Nellie” Berumen; siblings, Priscilla, Dolores and Debra Berumen.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Rocky Ford Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
