Susan Renee Bening Niswonger, 61, of Jackson lost the battle with her autoimmune disease on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born August 26, 1961, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Wayne William Bening and Draunda Jo Welker Bening.
Susan was a 1979 graduate of Cape Central High School. She loved many things, including crafting and being with her family, especially her mother. Susan was especially proud of her 23-year sobriety.

Loving survivors include her mother, Draunda Jo Bening of Jackson; three siblings, John Bening of Ft Myers, FL, Joe (Shelly) Bening and Debbie (the late Rob) Pensel all of Cape Girardeau; four nephews, Josh (Mackenzie) Pensel of St. Louis, Tyler (Brook Anderson) Bening of Cape Girardeau, Blake (Chasity Watkins) Bening of Ft Myers, FL, and Jacob (Hannah Stempkovski) Bening of Cape Girardeau; one niece, Erika (Devon Wolpers) Bening and one great niece, Raylee Jo Bening both of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne William Bening.
Memorial visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Friday, May 26, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A graveside service will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.
