Mazie Benjamin

<p>Mazie L. Benjamin was born on August 16, 1946, in</p><p>Hartsville, South Carolina, a daughter of Frank Benjamin, Sr.,</p><p>and Mayesville Brockington Benjamin. She was educated in</p><p>the public schools of Darlington County and graduated from</p><p>Butler High School in 1964. Mazie was a longtime member of</p><p>Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was active as a member</p><p>of the Usher Board and was a charter member of YWA.</p><p><br></p><p>Mazie worked as a machine operator for twenty-six years at</p><p>Sara Lee Hosiery. When she left there, she began working at</p><p>WalMart for twenty-one years as a sales associate until she</p><p>retired in 2020. Mazie was a kind and fun-loving person who</p><p>loved to laugh. She was a loyal friend and family member who</p><p>was a “mother figure” to all of her siblings. Even her older</p><p>brother, Frank, thought of her as his “mother” even though he</p><p>was the older of the two. She was certainly the world’s</p><p>greatest Atlanta Braves fan. LOL! The love she had for the</p><p>Braves would make you almost believe that if she could, she’d</p><p>actually bleed red and blue to show it. That was truly one of</p><p>her many passions. She was just not a stranger to anyone.</p><p><br></p><p>Ms. Benjamin was preceded in death by her father, Frank, Sr.;</p><p>mother, Mayesville “Dot;” brothers, Jerome “Bo” and Manley</p><p>“Doll;” sister, Elizabeth “Peg.”</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving to cherish the memory and continue the legacy</p><p>of Mazie L. Benjamin include: her son, Christopher (Cathy)</p><p>Benjamin; brothers, Frank (Rosetta) Benjamin, Jr., of</p><p>Florence, SC, and Jerry (Delores) Benjamin of Elgin, SC;</p><p>sister, Maxine (Willie) Cobb of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren,</p><p>Keean Benjamin and Mayra Benjamin; great-grandchildren,</p><p>Jeremiah Benjamin, Rhaegan Wright, and Kahdada</p><p>Benjamin; best friend, Janie Thomas; close friends, Willeacha</p><p>Jackson, Dorothy Crummy, Deloris Dickey, and Ann Addison; special aunt,</p><p>Luella Benjamin; adopted sons, Michael Smothers, and Maury</p><p>Walker; and numerous other relatives and very dear friends.</p>

Obituary

Mazie L. Benjamin was born on August 16, 1946, in

Hartsville, South Carolina, a daughter of Frank Benjamin, Sr.,

and Mayesville Brockington Benjamin. She was educated in
