Lillian Zwemer Obituary

Lillian Mayland Zwemer passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 23, at Park County Long Term Care Center. Lillian was 99 years old. She was born in Emblem, Wyoming to Henry and Hermina Mayland. The family moved to Lovell where two sisters, Marguerite and Dorothy, were born. Lillian attended Lutheran Parochial School through grade 8. After graduating from Lovell High School, she worked in California during the war.

Lillian married Virgil Zwemer, November 12, 1944. They made their home north of Frannie and were blessed with five children. Virgil passed away in 1977, and eventually Lillian moved to Lovell. She had many talents. Lillian played organ for over 55 years at St. John’s Lutheran Church, was an excellent cook for hired hands as well as her family, and loved gardening, especially her iris and roses. She worked in various businesses in Powell and Lovell making many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter Roslyn Hillman, and sister and brother-in-law Marguerite and Roland Doerr.

Lillian is survived by her son, Robert (Sharla) Zwemer, and her three daughters, Jennifer (Tony) Cid, Suzanne (Roger) Landis, and Jacalyn Johnson. Eleven call her Grandma, 24 call her Great Grandma, and five call her Great-Great Grandma.

A memorial service will be held June 1, 10 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lovell, WY with the viewing beginning at 9 in the Parish Hall. Burial will follow the service at the Deaver Cemetery. Then back to the parish hall where all are invited to a luncheon party to celebrate her life.  Memorial donations will be used for new vestments at St. John’s.
