<p>In the city of Las Vegas, on a warm May day, the world lost a shining star. Rosie Walton Brown, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 90. Born on December 16, 1932 in the small town of Sunflower, Mississippi to Alexander and Gertrude Peelar, Rosie's life was one of hard work, love, and generosity. She grew up in the Southside of Chicago where her optimistic spirit was born and nurtured.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosie worked at the Golden Nugget in the 70s and later joined the Clark County School District, where she worked for many years. She was also a dedicated home care provider and was loved by her clients.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosie worshiped at the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ where she was the Usher Board President for the State of Nevada COGIC. Then she attended the Church of Latter Day Saints and was actively involved in her church community.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosie was a woman who radiated joy and was famous for her insanely delicious banana pudding. Her loved ones can attest that no meal was complete without her signature dish. She was also an avid Blues listener and a dancer whose moves were the envy of many.</p><p><br></p><p>While Rosie's spirit has traveled on, she has left behind a legacy of love. Her children, Jennifer Parker, Rhoda Hassad, Ona Brown-Carr (Deshaun Carr-husband), and son Edward Brown, will forever hold the torch of her memory. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alfred Travis lll, Brodrick Travis, Alexander Moore, Deyvon Hassad, Karissa Hassad, Johnquiel Brown (Shayla Brown-wife), Johne’Sha Dickerson, Ste’Phan Washington, SheLicia Washington, SheMar Washington, her nephew Aaron Peelar Sr (Gloria Peelar-wife) and a host of great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, great, great-nieces and nephews, two great, great, great-nieces, godchildren, and other relatives. Her husband, Sam Brown, brother Nathaniel Peelar, her granddaughter Lacesha’Na Howard, father Alexander Peelar, mother Gertrude Peelar, and aunt Maggie Coleman, preceded her in death.</p><p><br></p><p>The memory of Rosie Walton Brown will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a woman of bravery, honesty, and confidence, always impeccably dressed, and never without her infectious smile. Her spirit will live on in the lives of those she loved and she will be missed with every passing moment. Rest in peace, dear Momma Rosie, and know that you will be forever in our hearts.</p>
