Alexa Claire Zielkowski Obituary

Alexa Claire Zielkowski, age 16, of Howell, Michigan passed away unexpectedly, due to an accidental drowning, on Monday, May 22, 2023. She was born on November 10, 2006, in Howell, MI. Alexa was a Junior at Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy (CSPA), where she was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program. She was active in the schools Honor’s Choir, participated in the school musicals, and was a member of the National Honor Society. As the school principal described, “Each and every day, Alexa exemplified kindness, understanding, acceptance, hard work, a passion for the arts, and a commitment to learning and improvement.”

Outside of school, Alexa was active in the Community Theatre of Howell, where she performed in numerous productions and served as the president of the Community Theatre’s Youth Leadership Council. She loved performing, but more so, loved working with others to put on a production that would bring joy and entertainment to people. She deeply cherished the friendships she made through theatre.

In her spare time, Alexa enjoyed being with friends, reading, journaling, studying Japanese, and being out in nature. She was fascinated by the mind and intrigued by consciousness/subconsciousness and how we perceive the world. Alexa was a deep thinker who engaged in frequent philosophical discussions with her family and closest friends. She was thoughtful, kind, perceptive, insightful, and wise beyond her years. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.

Alexa is survived by her father, Robert; mother, Cheryl; older sister, Lena; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Sonja Zielkowski; maternal grandparents, Fred (Jan) Schott (Westrick) and Roberta Schott; her Aunt, Natalie (Jose) Escandone and cousins Jose, Jr., Edward, and Nadia; Aunt, Lisa Schott; several additional cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Joseph Zielkowski, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, from 1-7 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Community Theatre of Howell (https://www.cththeatre.org/).
