<p>It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, father, stepfather, son, uncle, cousin and friend, Celestine Farrell. After a courageous battle with cancer, he died on Monday, May 22nd, 2023 at the age of 54, at the Burin Peninsula Health Center surrounded by family. </p><p><br></p><p>Celestine grew up in Little Bay with his nine siblings, he brought much joy to our family. As a young child, he was adventurous, fun loving, energetic, and very sociable. He had a wide circle of friends and was loved by many. Celestine was a loving and supportive father and stepfather. He took such joy in spending quality time with his children, instilling good principles and values in them. Cel always treated everyone with such kindness and care, giving generously with everything he had, always putting others before himself. He valued education, earning several certificates in pipefitting, carpentry, and respite care. He was a strong advocate for mental health awareness, openly discussing his illness with others, helping crush the stigma associated with mental health. Cel gave generously of his time and talents. He was proud to be an active member of the Lions Club in Garnish, helping plan and coordinate many community events and fundraise for those in need. He received the Friendship Award from the Lions Club. Celestine was a very fun-loving and social person. He always knew what was happening because he stopped and talked to everyone. Cel enjoyed taking time to visit the elderly in his community, running errands for them, and just spending quality time. He ensured our family stayed connected. All of his siblings in Alberta received regular check in calls, informing us weekly about what was happening in each other’s lives. We will miss those calls.</p><p><br></p><p>Celestine is survived by his children, Adam and Olivia Farrell; his stepchildren, Leonard and Sarah Fizzard; former partner and mother of his children, Karen Fizzard; his mother Shirley Farrell (nee Farewell); sisters, Maria Clarke (Levi), Pauline Smith (Scott), Joan Lingelbach (Greg), Sharon Farrell (Noah Said), Eunice Kohlsmith (David), Gladys Farrell; brothers, John Farrell, Guy Farrell (Connie), and Greg Farrell (Lisa); aunts, Evelyn Farrell and Mary Dibbon (Richard); close personal friend Janice Tapper, and a large circle of cousins, extended family and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>Celestine was predeceased by his father, John B. Farrell; grandparents Celestine and Angela Farrell; grandmother Gladys Farewell; aunts, Lorraine Hatch, Norma Hollett; uncles, Allan Walsh and Martin Farrell.</p><p><br></p><p>The Farrell Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Home - Marystown on </p><p>Wednesday, May 24th from 10:00am - 12:00pm, 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm - 9:00pm and</p><p>Thursday, May 25th from 10:00am - 12:00pm, 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm - 9:00pm.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Service will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown, on Friday, May 26th, 2023 at 10:00 am. Following the funeral service on Friday, there will be a reception at the Little Bay Heritage Centre.
