Randy Lynn Abshire Obituary

Randy L. “Boone” Abshire, 60, of Pomona Park, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Pikeville, Kentucky, Randy was a well-known, loved and respected musician in our community. Having played guitar since he was very young, he was a master at his craft. Due to his talent and versatility, Randy played in many different bands over the years, including Steel Country, Outbreak, Tropical Whiskey and Frazzled to name a few, plus sat in with so many others, even playing at Sturgis one year. For the past few years Randy had been playing with his best friends Todd, Clint and TR in the Southern Gentleman Band and Tres Hombres. His loss is felt deeply amongst the music community, his friends and family. He will be greatly missed, but we can take solace knowing he is playing with his friends and family that have gone before him in the Angel Band in Heaven now. In addition to his playing abilities, Randy was a talented song writer and sound engineer as well as a mechanic.

He is survived by his love of 19 years, Susan Herren, sons, RJ Abshire of KY, Dalton Abshire of FL and Archer Abshire of FL, brothers, Jerry Abshire (Wilda), Ronnie Abshire (Sheila), Danny Abshire (Judy) and Gary Abshire, all of KY and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. at the Eagles Club of Crescent City.
