Alice Axtman

<p>Alice Betty Axtman, the daughter of Conrad and Katherine (Leier) Koble was born on February 3, 1938 in McHenry County, North Dakota. She died peacefully at the age of 85 years on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice was raised in the Orrin area and was educated at Smoky Lake School. On October 1, 1957 she married Edward J. Axtman in Orrin. They were blessed with three children and raised them in the Balta and Rugby area. In 1972, they moved to Rugby and Alice cooked and baked at the The Hub and the Cornerstone restaurants. Later, she was employed as a custodian at the Ely Elementary School for many years until her retirement. Alice enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and canning. She found much pleasure in cooking and baking goodies for family members, friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church and a VFW Auxiliary lifetime member.</p><p><br></p><p>Alice is survived by her children, Peggy (Kirby) Harmel of Rugby and Richard “Rick” Axtman of Eagle River, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren, Eric Axtman, Amber Axtman, Chelsea Payne, Ryan Harmel, Markelle Axtman, Jacey Axtman, Sawyer Harmel and Allie Axtman; 4 great grandchildren, Kirra Axtman, Camron Axtman, Ivy Payne and Nakoa Axtman; sister, Faye Roerick; brother, Robert (Shirley) Koble; sister-in-law, Marlys Koble; brothers-in-law, Ron (Jane), Tim (Shirley) and David (Elaine) Axtman; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends are left to mourn her death. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Axtman (2017); granddaughter, Sierra Harmel (2002); daughter-in-law, Lynn Larson (2017); siblings, Conrad, Peter, John and Gerald Koble, Christine Wold and Kaye Fettig and her parents.</p><p><br></p><p>Casket Bearers: Eric Axtman, Amber Axtman, Ryan Harmel, Sawyer Harmel, Camron Axtman and Kenzie Halvorson</p><p><br></p><p>Honorary Bearers: Birthday Coffee Crew and the HAMC Hospice Staff</p><p><br></p>
