<p>Carma Nell Hawk Anderson </p><p>Carma Anderson, 89, of Halfway, Oregon died&nbsp; on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Grace Assisted Living in Pocatello, Idaho surrounded by love.&nbsp; A Traditional Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 - 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Valley Presbyterian Church in Halfway, Oregon.&nbsp; Interment will be at Pine Haven Cemetery.&nbsp; Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following at the Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carma was born October 12, 1933 in Chadron, Nebraska to John W and Juanita Hawk. She was the oldest of 4 children. Siblings: Bill, MaryAnn, and Jim.&nbsp; She grew up on a farm in Chadron, Nebraska and&nbsp; was a hard worker, helping her family raise cows, chickens, and other livestock. She also helped can food, cook and take care of her younger siblings.<br> Carma was involved in 4-H growing up; showing and winning blue ribbons for her cows in the County Fair. After graduation from Chadron Prep High School in 1951, Carma taught school in a one room school house, teaching ages 6-18.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carma loved to sew and later made quilts. Every child and grandchild has at least one quilt made by Grandma "Chicken" as she fondly came to be known by the great grandkids; because of her raising chickens.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carma met her husband and love of her life Bill Anderson while still in High School. They married June 1, 1952 in the First Baptist Church in Chadron and their adventures began. Moving and working their way in 18 different places, from Nebraska to Oregon in Hells Canyon. Bill worked construction jobs building roads for the dams along the Snake River. They made their retirement home in Halfway, Oregon in 1969.&nbsp; Bill and Carma were blessed with 3 children, Dixie, Casey, and Peggy. After raising her children, Carma worked for the school district as a substitute teacher and a cook for 20 years. She was an excellent cook and loved getting to know all the children at the school.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carma had so much love for her family and all of her many friends. Her grandkids meant so much to her and she was loved by so many in her community in Halfway, Oregon. She was a member of the Halfway Presbyterian Church.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Bill and Carma loved to camp, boat, fish, pick huckleberries, hunt mushrooms and travel; which they did a lot of until Bill's death in April 2006.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bill Hawk and son-in-law, Richard Roubidoux.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Carma&nbsp; is survived by her three children, Dixie Anderson of Manzanita, Oregon, Casey (Marla) Anderson of Halfway, Oregon and Peggy Roubidoux of Pocatello, Idaho; sister MaryAnn (Eldon) Poppe of Lincoln, Nebraska and brother Jim (Jeryl) Hawk of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Kammy, Mitch (Angie), Venus (Glen), Tadd (Kellie), CJay (Shilo), Jodi (Loyal), Devri (Branden), Chastity and Scott; 25 great grandkids and 5 great great grandkids;&nbsp; many nieces and nephews. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The family would like to thank Grace Memory Care of Chubbuck, Idaho and Enhabit Home Health Care Pocatello, Idaho for their love and support to Carma and her family.
