Paul Sanford Record Obituary

Oxford – Paul Sanford Record 68, passed away at his home on Sunday May 14, 2023.

Paul was born in Weymouth, MA on September 27, 1954 to Elaine and Sanford Record. He was the first of 4 children. He attended schools in Mass before to Maine and went to schools in the Freeport area. He was briefly in the Air Force. He then went onto one of the local vocational schools where he gained a certificate in Automotive Repair and Technology.

Pail met his wife Ellen in the early 80s and fell in love with her and her two girls at first sight. They welcomed a son in 1982 and then finally in July of 1985 they tied the knot. They would remain married until Ellen’s death in November of 2022. Their love for each other was strong that a mere 6 months later he joined her in what I hope is peaceful bliss.

Dad enjoyed various things in life but the most treasured was his family and life that him and mom had for us kids. He had a small woodshop in the house and often he would have us out there with him making rubber band cars, dinosaur, crayon holders and so much more. When his older Granddaughter Sara was old enough, he had her making stuff as well. We spent many a summer at his parents’ cottage on Bustins Island that he would shout at the top of his lungs Lions and Tigers and Beras Oh My and would scare us kids. We traveled to the Island by the Ferry mostly however when out Grandad was alive, we went by the Boat That’s Decent II it’s the boat Dad and Grandpa Sandy maintained which he was very proud of, it was a Mahogany Crist Craft. Him and his son James enjoyed racing in Enduros at the local racetrack OPS and Dad would often help his friends on their pitcrews and put many cars and put many cars together over the years. He also enjoyed music and thought he could sing well enough for Karaoke which him and mom enjoyed going to together. He would listen to up-and-coming bands at local venues I don’t think there was music he didn’t like. In the more recent years, he has had a special bond with his youngest granddaughter Lacie who she called Far Far and his one and only great grandchild Oweb who called him Grumpy. Whether you knew him as Son, Husband, Dad, Uncle, Brother, Far Far of Grumpy or Friend he wore every hat well.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, a sister, a brother and his loving wife. He is survived by his brother Ted of Mass as well as both of his daughters Melanie Scott of Augusta, ME and Melissa Walker and her husband Duane of Sabattus, ME, and his son James Paul Record of Poland, ME, as well 9 grandchildren, Tiffany, Sara, Jeremiah, Zachary, Meghan, Jacob, Joseph, Alex, Lacie and Owen his great grandson.

A celebration of life for Paul as well as Ellen will be held sometime in the summer of 2023, as they were together in life they will be celebrated in death.
