<p>Reverend Alberta Shannon was born on August 27, 1949, in Franklin, VA to the late Samuel and Mary Ricks. &nbsp;On Saturday, May 20, the Lord in his infinite wisdom dispatch an Angel to Riverside Reginal Medical Center to escort her to her eternal home.&nbsp; </p><p>She attended schools in Southampton County, VA, where she also accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age. She started her first church in 1979, True Word of God Mission. Her mission was helping the homeless and she hat be opening her home and church to house and feed people in her community. She was known as a loving and caring woman. Very much so for preaching the Word of God and her giving spirit.&nbsp; </p><p>Rev. Shannon was a pillar and entrepreneur in her community, owning a corner store, a church and restaurant “Shannon’s Place.” All of which she used to better the people in the community.&nbsp; </p><p>Rev. Shannon is preceded in death by her two sons; Darryl Ricks and Ronald J. Taylor; her husband Mr. Hayes Shannon; seven brothers and five sisters.&nbsp; </p><p>She leaves to cherish her memories, three granddaughters Christina Alston, Ashley Johnson, Sharonda Taylor; grandson Jamari Taylor; great – granddaughter Genesis Davis – Johnson; sister Doris Lee; God – Son Ulysses Page and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. &nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>It is the desire of the Shannon family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>The family of Rev. Alberta Shannon&nbsp; has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc. </p><p>&nbsp; </p>
