George Emile Dandaneau Obituary

BANGOR-George E. Dandaneau passed away May 16, 2023, in Fernandina Beach, FL. He was born June 24, 1939, in Brewer, to the late Nancy and Leonard Dandaneau.




George was a 1957 graduate of John Bapst High School and a 1961 graduate of the University of Maine. George worked many years as a Vice President at Merrill Trust Co, Fleet Bank and Merrill Bank. He served 2 years of active duty with the US Army as an Infantry Officer and 26 years in the Army Reserves. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Levenworth, KS and completed the Industrial College of The Armed Forces, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.




He was a lifelong member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, worshiping at St. Joseph and St. Mary's Church having served as a past president of St. Mary's Parish Council, a past president of St. Mary's School Board and a past member of the St. Mary's Social Justice and Peace Commission. He also served as past president and current member of Bangor Breakfast Kiwanis Club. (36 years). George’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and any activity outdoors. He especially enjoyed doing things with his children and grandchildren of whom he and Jody were so proud.




He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Jody Dandaneau; his daughter, Danyell Dandaneau; his sister, Angela Hart; his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Peggy Dionne. Surviving are his daughter, Lucienne Moore and her husband Rick of Hampden and their children Jacob, Whitney, and Conar Moore; his son, George Dandaneau and his wife Dawn of Fernandina Beach, FL, and their children Zac and Chris Dandaneau; his daughter, Gabrielle Dandaneau and her husband Steve Case of Virginia Beach, VA; his sister, Alyce Martin and her husband Jim Martin of Holliston, MA; his brother-in-law, David Hart of Brewer; sister-in-law Marie Cierniak and her husband Jerry of Hustisford, Wisconsin.




A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cathoic Cemetery, Ohio St., Bangor. . Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer.
