Cornelia Garcia passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side Cornelia was born and raised in Tucumcari, New Mexico her parents were Manuel and Sista Ramirez her father passed away when she was 3 years old. Her mother married Ignacio (Nash) Benavidez, she always said he was good to her and treated her like his own. Cornelia married Raymond Garcia on January 27, 1947, they had a happy marriage for over 50 years and were blessed with 13 children whom they loved and adored.


Cornelia loved spending time with her family and never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. She reflected Christ in everything she did and had a great devotion to Our Blessed Mother. Cornelia was a gentle soul filled with love and compassion serving others. Cornelia enjoyed adventures, she enjoyed camping with her family and was a Campground host for over 10 years in the Carson National Forrest and that is where she was the most content. Michael, her son, and care giver fulfilled many of her dreams, taking her traveling to places she wanted to explore, they went on cruises and traveled cross country.


Cornelia’s surviving children her Caregiver Michael Garcia, of Truchas, NM, Frances Moya (George) of Tijeras, NM, Joseph R. Garcia (Jackie) of Penasco, Bernardo Garcia (Patty) of Albuquerque, Ramona Garcia (Ruben Dominguez) of Albuquerque, Helen Sisneros (Raymond) of Albuquerque, David Garcia (Donna) of Tucumcari, Sandra Elevario (Fabian) of Albuquerque.


Preceded in death by her husband Raymond Garcia, Sons: Carlito’s Garcia (infant), Tommy Garcia, Raymond Garcia, Leandro (Gene) Garcia, Frankie Garcia, Grandsons: George Moya Jr., Andrew (Dreamer) Garcia, Ariel Garcia, Thomas Nunn. Siblings: Dorothy Apodaca, Manuel Ramirez, David Benavides, Lilly Benavides, Nash (Big Boy) Benavidez., Rachel Martinez, Patsy Calbert, Carmen Sandoval. and all her unborn Angels that were taken home too soon.


Cornelia left behind over 170 grand, great grand and great- great grandchildren, not before giving each of them a blessing.


Funeral Services for Cornelia Garcia will be at St. Annes Catholic Church, Tucumcari, NM, June 3, 2023


Rosary: 9:30 am, Mass at 10:00 am internment Tucumcari Memorial Park and a reception will follow. Cremation was entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home Santa Fe, NM.
