Bonnie Lee Banner Obituary

Bonnie L. Banner, 78, formerly of Schenevus, NY passed away May 15, 2023.


She was born March 16, 1945 in Oneonta, the daughter of Charles W. and Wilma (McCulley) Bramsen.

Bonnie graduated from Andrew S. Draper Central School in Schenevus, Class of 1963. She married James W. Banner on July 27, 1963 at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Oneonta.


Bonnie graduated from Austin’s Beauty School and opened a beauty shop in her Schenevus home for many years. She also worked at the Schenevus School as an advocate for children. Bonnie began as the clerk of the Maryland Post office, moved up to rural carrier and was promoted to Postmaster where she served until her retirement in 2000. 


Bonnie was a past member of the C.H. Graham Hose Co. Auxiliary and AmVets Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader. She and Jim owned and operated Sparrowhawk Antiques for 15 years before retiring to Stuart, FL. Bonnie was very active in several community committees. She enjoyed being a member of the “Needle Jammers” a quilting club and was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Stuart, FL. 


Bonnie is survived by her husband and best friend of 60 plus years, James Banner; her daughters, Debra (Scott) Ackermann of Saratoga, NY and Darci L. Banner of Stuart, FL; her grandchildren, James J. “Jamie” Schmidt, Jenkin J. Banner-Schmidt; Shay Banner-Ranson and Ryleigh Banner-Ranson; her sisters, Patricia Russell of Little Meadow, PA and Katrina “Tina” (Mike) Keator of Laurens; and as well as many nieces and nephews. 


She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Sharon Snyder and her brother, Charles “Sonny” Bramsen.
