Obituary

Kathryn “Kathy” Neely passed from this world peacefully, surrounded in love by her family after a long-term illness on April 30th, 2023, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was loved and adored by many, and she passed away at an age that will be left to conjecture, because Kathy knew a real lady never reveals her age. Known for her witty persona, bright spirit, and sassy personality, she fought so hard for years through her illness, but more importantly, she loved even harder and lived her life to the fullest.

Kathy lived a beautiful life of no regrets. Born in Washington state on March 3rd to Armond and Arlene Hall, her adventurous nature took her to Alaska in 1977. Once she was settled in her new home state, it was not long before she met the love of her life, Mr. George Detablan. They spent their years together creating a home of love, raising their children, enjoying their grandchildren, traveling, and making memories only true love can create in a lifetime. Her family was her greatest treasure and she made sure everyone knew their importance to her. If anyone ever reached out in malice to her family, the warrior that she was came out and she was a force of nature because of that love.

Her years in Alaska were spent relishing all her state had to offer. She delighted in fishing and camping with George and her family, traveling whenever they could, and creating the moments that her children and grandchildren would remember for the rest of their lives. Later on in life, whether gardening and spending time with her family in the summers in Alaska or enjoying a blissful life of retirement with George traveling Arizona and visiting friends in states during the colder months, she illuminated any room with her laughter and smiles wherever she went.

Kathy’s passing has left a chasm that no amount of time will fill. When her beautiful light extinguished from this world it was felt by everyone. She is survived by and cherished by her life partner and the love of her life, Mr. George Detablan; her children and stepchildren Niki Detablan, Katelyn Detablan, Jacob Frank, and George Detablan, II; her sister, Lori Meek, and her grandchildren; Keshawn McBride, Tyrell McBride, Jaidyn Boyd, Izabella Lee, Nakeyda McBride, and Lawrence Detablan. Kathy was preceded in passing by her parents, Armond and Arlene Hall, and her brother Lonnie Hall.

Her family and friends will always miss her spirit and immense heart at every family gathering and the pivotal moments throughout their lives. However, they will live on with her memory and make her proud when they carry on her traditions of making those moments count. True to her essence and bright soul, there will be a celebration of life gathering for Kathy Neely at an indoor/outdoor venue to be determined for later in July 2023. The gathering of family and friends will be in full tribute to the woman, mother, sister, and friend we all loved and adored.
