<p>Joseph Edward Gibbs, Sr., was born on Monday, April 26, 1943, to the late Carlos and Margaret Gibbs.&nbsp;&nbsp;He departed this life on Sunday, May 14, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He was better known as pop-pop to most or Joe to others.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was also considered as the matriarch on Carver Street in Georgetown, Delaware.</p><p>At the age of 15, Joseph was a chicken catcher, working at various factories but retired at Mountaire in Millsboro, Delaware, at the age of 62.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mr. Gibbs or Gibbo as he’s been called at times, was also the local tax man, which is how he earned the title “The H&amp;R Block Man of Georgetown”.&nbsp;&nbsp;He did taxes until his retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp;Tax season was his mini vacation. Joe also loved to do various crossword puzzles and watch western tv shows or movies.</p><p>&nbsp;In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Gibbs and his sister, Queenie Gibbs.</p><p>Joseph leaves to honor his memory, five brothers, Clifford Gibbs (Vicki) of Lewes, DE, Carlos Gibbs of Georgetown, DE, Raymond Mann (Patricia) of Georgia, Gary Gibbs (Rita) of New Jersey, and Stephen Gibbs (Stacey) of Dover, DE; six&nbsp;&nbsp;daughters, and one son, Kim and Kelly Lofland of Lincoln, DE Carla Cannon of Slaughter Neck, DE, Mary and Margaret Gibbs of Georgetown, DE, Josephine Gibbs of Milton, DE, and Joseph Gibbs, Jr., of Kansas; four stepchildren, Arthur Lofland (Marlette) of Bridgeville, DE, Anthony Cannon of Bridgeville, DE, Robin Gibbs , Kendra Mitchell of Seaford, DE&nbsp;&nbsp;and his adopted daughter, Agnes Cannon;&nbsp;&nbsp;25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.</p>
