Obituary
James Junior Wilson was born on March 6, 1933 in Laurens, SC to Eula Lenora Little and Fletcher
“Buster” Wilson. He was a devoted family man, hard-working employee, and a man of faith. He
attended New York City Public Schools and later joined the armed services on January 29, 1951, serving
honorably until his discharge on December 30, 1953.
After returning home, James met the love of his life on Anacostia Rd SE. They married April 14, 1956
and together they raised four children. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Bethesda Navy
Medical Hospital, where he earned a reputation as a reliable and dedicated Culinary General Foreman.
His hard work and commitment supported his family and made a positive impact on those around him.
On the day of his retirement he received a letter from Captain Alan W. Frost, that ended with the
following statement “May your retirement days be full of the happiness that you brought to us all. You
leave a void that will be very difficult to fill.”
In his leisure time, James enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking, coin collecting, and cooking. In 1992, he
accepted a custodial position at Holy Trinity Worship Center International, which later led to him
dedicating his life to Christ. He also served as an active member of the men's choir and started the
Church concession stand. He was a mentor to many young men as long as he was able.
James was a loving husband to his wife of 66 years, Betty Melinda Wilson, who preceded him in death
December 6, 2022. He was also blessed with three sisters: Mamie, Rose, and Lizzie, who proceeded him
in death as well. He is survived by his four children, Lenora “Bitsy” Bowman (Greg-deceased), Jayme
Wilson McCrimmon (Danny), James C. Wilson (Veda), and Wanda Jean Wilson, and one brother, Willie
Earl Wilson Sr. (Pauline). He was a proud grandfather to Lanine Valdez (Alex), Michele Woods (Daniel),
Crystal McCrimmon, Daniel McCrimmon (Nicole), Tracie and Treanna Jordan, and great-grandfather to
Mariah, Mason, Major, Maxwell, Dawson, Lenexio, Nelix, Dash, Nori, and Melodie. He also leaves a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family and friends.
James will be remembered for his love of family, hard work, dedication, and service to his church. His
legacy will live on through his family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Goodbye, see you in the morning! You leave a void that will never be filled – We love you
Bitsy, Jayme, JC and Wanda
