Charles William Krieger Obituary

Charles “Chip” Krieger, age 77, passed away on May 15th 2023 at his home in Wilmington,NC
after a lengthly illness.

Chip was born on October 17, 1945 in Montclair NJ to the late Charles Noah and Anne Marie
Krieger. In addition to his parents, Chip was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald
Krieger.

Chip grew up in West Milford, NJ. He spent most of his career working in communications
starting as a lineman with NJ Bell. He retired from Lucent technologies where he was a Staff
Manager - Responsible for Distribution Planning.

Chip moved with his family to Wilmington NC in 1999 and quickly became involved in the
community. One of his favorite pastimes was playing softball. Chip enjoyed many years of
playing ball as a member of the Wilmington Senior Softball Association .He served on the
Board of Directors and was inducted into The Wilmington Senior Softball Association Hall of
Fame in 2017. Chip made many friends during his years playing ball that continued even after
he was no longer able to play due to his illness.

Chip was also an avid classic car enthusiast and through the years he enjoyed collecting and
driving the “Old Cars” . His love of cars led him to become a founding member of the Sun
Coast Cruisers Car Club here in Wilmington. Here too, the friendships and activities of the club
brought him years of enjoyment.

Chip was committed to helping a local organization devoted to helping find Missing Persons.
CUE- Community United Efforts. He helped plan and organize their National Conference held
here in Wilmington for many years. He was awarded recognition as “Keeper of The Flame “for
his dedication to CUE in 2008.
Locally, Chip was known by many as the owner of “ Your Handy Helper”, a Handyman, Home
Repair Business that he established after this retirement. Chip enjoyed the challenges, and
diversity of his business and all the people he helped during his “ second career”.

Chip truly was a man of “MANY HATS” He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chip is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Krieger ( Pat ). His son Michael Heller,
( Diane); daughters Jennifer Simpson (Freddy) and Alison Krieger (Dru) ; sister Christine Caird;
sister in law Dee Krieger; Grandchildren Emma Jane Simpson, James Davis Simpson, and
Maria Heller; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thank you to all the Family, Friends, Visiting
Angels Caregivers and Staff , Lower Cape Fear Hospice, and Medical Professionals, who
supported them during Chips Illness. Their kindness and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, June 11th from 4  PM to 6 PM. A memorial service
will be held at Quinn McGowen funeral home at 315 Willow Woods Drive Wilmington NC on Monday,
June 12 at 10:30 AM, with Father John officiating, followed by interment at Oleander Memorial
Gardens.
