Delores Owen

Delores Owen, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023. A viewing and visitation will take place at Jerns Funeral Home in Bellingham on Saturday May 20th from 2-4 PM with family members present. The interment will take place at a later date in Thief River Falls, MN. Delores was born September 22, 1930 to parents Gustave and Valeria (Reller) Vad in Thief River Falls, MN. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. On August 31, 1952 she was united in marriage to Morris Owen Jr. She was a homemaker raising her 4 young children for many years prior to working in the maintenance division for the Highline School District in Des Moines, WA. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Des Moines, WA prior to retiring with her husband in Bellingham in 1990. Delores enjoyed tending her flower gardens, family time at the lake, travelling to Minnesota annually to visit family, singing in the church choir, and just being the best Mother and Wife anyone could imagine. She is survived by her children, Marcie (Ron) Dubrow, Bellingham, WA, Mark Owen,  Des Moines, WA, Gary (Diane) Owen, Wenatchee, WA, and David (Theresa) Owen, Graham, WA. 11 grandchildren, Kristen Stead, Adam Dubrow, Branden Owen, Andrew Owen, Bryan Dubrow, Michelle Owen, Leah Owen, Danielle Dubrow, Russell Owen, Erik Owen, Jack Owen, 11 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Betty Laufman, Thief River Falls, MN, Judy Owen, Thief River Falls, MN, Lorray Tupy, Apple Valley, MN, Jayne Vad, Breckenridge, MN, and Marlys Vad, Bottineau ND. Delores was preceded in death by her husband Morris, her parents, brothers, Duane and Darrol and sister Darlene. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Whatcom Hospice.
