Weston Troy Omeasoo-Knowlton Obituary

Weston Troy Omeasoo- Knowlton, “Mai’ stoo” (Crow), “Pisimoyapinapesis” (Rainbow Boy), Beloved husband of Nicole Long Time Squirrel, and father of Jax and baby Weston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at Lethbridge Regional Hospital, on May 11, 2023, at the age of 35 years.

Weston was raised in Lethbridge and Piikani Nation and made frequent trips to Hobbema and Saddle Lake while growing up. His mother, Melanie Omeasoo loved her son dearly. His father, Troy Knowlton, was always there to see that Weston was in school and introduced him to the traditional ways of living off the land as well as sports. His grandmother Blandine had a hand in raising him and was always seen in the bleachers cheering on her Grandson at all his basketball and hockey games. As a child, Weston was known for his amusing and hilarious ways; always getting into mischief. Weston started playing hockey at the age of five in Lethbridge. He played all over Alberta and was well known as a fierce player on the ice.

Weston moved to the north end of the Blood Tribe in 2008, where he stayed with the love of his life, Nicole Long Time Squirrel. They had their first son Jax Omeasoo in 2009, followed by Baby Weston Omeasoo in 2020. Weston loved his wife and boys unconditionally. He so enjoyed watching his son Jax excel in sports and was always there cheering on his boy with a smile on his face. Baby Weston was usually seen by his dad’s side. Weston enjoyed swimming, watching movies, and bringing the boys to various functions.

Weston grew up hunting alongside his dad and became an avid hunter. He was known for his amazing hunting skills which he used to pursue mule deer, elk, and moose. Weston shot his first buck at the age of nine, at which time an Elder told him he would become a great hunter in life. He was always generous with his game meat, insuring to give all he had to Elders, family, and friends.

Weston loved fishing. He could always be found by the riverbank well before and after the sun set where he would catch the biggest fish. He was a great fisherman.

Weston was introduced to pool in his early years by his grandfather Mark Strikes with a Gun. He carried his pool skills all through his life and played with his closest friends.

Weston started playing softball at the age of 19 and he thrived in the sport. He won numerous MVP’s, All-Stars, and Championships. Weston could always be seen with #19 on his jersey. He enjoyed the outdoors; especially golfing with his buddies any chance he could get. Weston was a thrill seeker; he went skydiving and participated in the Red Bull Crashed Ice competition.

Weston also enjoyed mining. At every opportunity he could be found on the cliff side looking for Ammolites. He was known to find some of the rarest and most colorful rocks of them all.

Weston would always venture to Hobbema for sweats with his Mosum Wilson who he could always count on. His Mosum Wilson was a healer who loved nothing more than to have his Grandson at his side.

Weston had many friends that he called brothers, and he was always there to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. He enjoyed cooking and BBQing. He would share his videos on FB with friends and family. His traditional mother was Connie Cross Child. Weston excelled at everything he did in life and was always our shining star, including being an extra in the Dreamkeeper movie. One of Weston’s favorite mottos was “Keep your head up and legs moving.”

Weston leaves behind his Wife Nicole Long Time Squirrel and Son’s Jax and Baby Weston Omeasoo; father Troy (Lisa) Knowlton; mother Melanie Omeasoo; sister’s Samantha (EJ) Knowlton, Athena (Cassidy) North Piegan, Brittney Steinhauer and Evelyn Steinhauer; brother’s Beau Knowlton, Dante Knowlton, Brayden Omeasoo-Steinhauer, and Magnus Omeasoo-Steinhauer; paternal Grand Mother Blandine (Mark) Bastien; aunties Angel (Mike) and Natasha (Neil); uncle Cory and numerous family from Hobbema.
