David A. Lavoie Obituary

Presque Isle - David A. Lavoie, 76, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Aroostook House of Comfort. He was born April 1, 1947, in Caribou, the son of Louis and Lela (Johnston) Lavoie, and raised by his maternal grandparents, Pearl and Chester Johnston.


David grew up in Caribou and graduated from Caribou High School in 1966. He then worked on the farm for Warren Anderson and then as a weaver for F.M.I. until his retirement. He married Rhonda Beals on July 7, 1977, and together they would share forty-six years of marriage.


He was an avid NASCAR fan and collector of diecast racecars and Hot Wheels. David enjoyed fishing and working his John Deere tractor. He loved his animals, especially his cat Midas, who was a constant companion.


He is survived by his wife Rhonda Lavoie of Presque Isle, four stepchildren: Rene Jo Johnson and her husband Chip, Tammy Bard and her husband Lonnie, Paula Perry and her husband Chris, Robert Smart and his wife Kim. He also leaves behind three siblings: Lou Lavoie and his wife Nancy of Oklahoma, Brenda Jones and her husband James of Florida, Tom Lavoie and his wife Colleen of Connecticut, a sister-in-law Debbie Shaw and her husband Jim of Easton, a brother-in-law Richard Wilcox of Louisiana as well as 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered by special friends: Cindy Deschaine and her husband Stephen, Ron Turner and his wife Melinda, Lorraine Hafford and her husband John, Paul and Peter Deschaine and family. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a sister, Mary Brough and a sister-in-law Myra Wilcox.
