It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Jean Durkin, 60, formerly of Burlington and Colchester, at her home in Hinesburg, on May 1, 2023, after a brief illness.

She was born in Burlington on March 29, 1963 to William A. and Nancy J. (Crocker) Stringer. After graduating from South Burlington High School, Susan worked as bank teller in the Burlington area. In her spare time Susan enjoyed going to the movies and playing cards, especially cribbage. But above all else she loved helping others and was always there lending a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it was preparing a meal or offering a place to stay. She was a beautiful soul who had a multitude of friends and was loved by anyone who knew her. Her smile could light up a room; her humor and laughter were infectious. Susan will be missed more than words can express. “You are no longer hurting beautiful lady. We will miss you and love you always!”

Left to cherish Susan’s memory are her sons David A. Dennis and Daniel A. Dennis; her father William; her brother Bobby Stringer; and her nephew Jesse Stringer. She was predeceased by her mother Nancy and her brother Billy Stringer.

Services are tentatively planned for the first week of June 2023. Details will appear here once they are finalized.
