Marie L. Hurst
<p>Marie L. Hurst of Vernon and wife of the late James H. Hurst, passed into eternal life at the blessed age of 90, at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 9th., 2023.</p><p><br></p><p>Marie was born on February 10, 1933, in Chelsea, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Phillip Murray and Ellen Best Murray of New Bedford Massachusetts. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by brother Phillip Murray, Jr. and her daughter, Monica Hurst. </p><p><br></p><p>Marie graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and served as an RN for over 25 years at Fox Hill Nursing Home in Rockville, Connecticut. After retirement she became an avid UCONN Basketball fan. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to shop for treasures with her friends. </p><p><br></p><p>Marie is survived by her daughters, Rosemarie Mezrioui of Rockville, Margaret Heckler and her husband Robert of Stratford, and her sons, James P. Hurst and his wife Eyde of Colchester, and Thomas Hurst of Rockville.</p><p><br></p><p>She also leaves behind Grandchildren, Catherine Vincelette and her husband Steve of Vernon, Juanita Ortiz of Rockville, Jessica Rose Rosario and her husband Angel of Rockville, Rosanna Mezrioui of Rockville, Andrew Sosa of Ellington and Youssef Mezrioui of Rockville, Brian Heckler of Houston TX, Debra Cardoza of Colchester, Evan Hurst of Rockville, Christopher Hurst of Rockville, and Alicia Hurst also of Rockville, and several Great and Great Great Grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville on Tuesday, May 16th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday, May 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in Rockville.</p><p><br></p><p>Burial services are private.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, Connecticut 06066.</p><p> www.ECHN.org/hospice-services</p><p><br></p><p>For online condolences please visit: www.pietrasfuneralhome.com</p><p><br></p>Obituary
