<p>Susan Elizabeth (Durfee) Condit, 60, of Ellington, beloved wife of Peter Condit, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 after a long illness. She was born February 9, 1963 in Middletown, the daughter of Charles and Fay (Weir) Durfee. </p><p><br></p><p>Susan was raised in Granby and South Windsor; she graduated from South Windsor High School and Eastern Connecticut State University. She was a full-time mother and homemaker for many years and later returned to school to become an X-Ray Technician, a career she held for over fifteen years. Susan overflowed with empathy for others, having provided strong care, compassion, and advocacy for the individuals she served. </p><p><br></p><p>Susan’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, and she long anticipated becoming a grandmother. She held a lifelong joy for being outdoors, often hiking and bicycling with her headphones always blaring her 80’s music. Susan loved traveling with her husband and children as often as she could, having taken trips across the country when her children were younger, including a three-week cross-country trip in the family’s slightly-too-small camper RV. She and her husband also enjoyed many anniversary trips to the Caribbean islands in more recent years, their most recent of which about six weeks prior to her passing. While Susan was feeling ill, she found peace and comfort in the clear tropical waters. Susan was a kind, selfless, and adventurous person, who will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her dog, Brandi.</p><p><br></p><p>Besides her husband, Peter, Susan is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (husband, Yeriel “JJ”) Vargas of Manchester, and her son, Richard (fiancée, Jeanna Erickson) Condit of Unionville; her mother, Fay Durfee, of South Windsor; her siblings, Mark (wife, Beverly) Durfee of Enfield, Helen Durfee of Rockville, Matthew Durfee (wife, Samantha) of Winchendon, Mass, and Thomas Durfee of South Windsor; many in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. Susan was also looking forward to the arrival of her first grandchild, who is due to be born in October.</p><p><br></p><p>Susan was predeceased by her father, Charles Durfee. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 6 PM with a memorial service following at 6 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.</p>
