Canton – Edith S. Pettengill, 90, a resident of Canton, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Pinnacle Nursing Home in Canton where she has resided since October of 2020. She was born July 12, 1932, in New Sharon, the daughter of John Major and Maude (Woodward) Enman. She attended school in Canton. On July 9, 1960, in Bethel, she married William R. Pettengill, Jr. of Canton. They enjoyed 43 years together before his passing on October 27, 2003. She worked at several retail stores over the years including Kings, Wilson, JJ Newbury’s/Ames, and Grants. She also worked at the Career Center in Wilton. Edith loved music and went out dancing twice a week. She enjoyed attending church every week. She also loved to go out shopping. She is survived by her children Pete Davenport and wife Fonda of Peru, Richard Davenport and partner Kerry Eldridge of Auburn, Debbie Page of Leeds, Douglas Davenport and husband Peter Brodeur of Lewiston, and Jeffrey Pettengill and fiancé Theresa King of Canton, stepdaughter Marjorie Averill of Damariscotta, stepsons Mike Pettengill and wife Terri, Rick Pettengill and wife Kathleen, and Milton Pettengill all of Florida, 8 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, May 12, 2023, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment at Demerritt Cemetery, Route 108, Peru, Maine.
