CAROL J. PENDRIS

1939 - 2023

Carol J. Pendris, 83, of Hinesburg, VT, the wife of John M. Pendris, daughter of the late Frank C. and Anna Jane Moody, passed away peacefully at The Arbors of Shelburne in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 30th, 2023.

Carol, born and raised in Burlington, was the bedrock upon which her cherished family grew. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and her family's moral compass.

Carol and John were married in September of the year 1964 following a courtship of three years. It was said that Carol wanted to make sure of her choice in a mate. By most folks reckoning she did just fine. They made their initial home in Westboro, MA and soon moved on to the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York first setting down in Wappingers Falls as John joined IBM in Poughkeepsie.

Ten years later they returned to Vermont and put roots down in Hinesburg, VT. By now, Carol's family had grown and in addition to John there were three boys; Scott M., Brian G. and Thomas C. and they were Carol's pride and joy.

Carol was a Mother and Homemaker first and foremost. There was nothing that warmed her generous heart more then the recognition and acknowledgment of her three boy's great character and achievements, both in their personal and professional lives.

Additionally, and along with John, Carol participated in many varied and challenging projects during their life together. Included were multiple house constructions, residental rental property rehabilitation and management and timber stand improvements. She was a lady who had no hesitation about digging in and doing whatever was required.

Carol is survived by her husband John of Hinesburg, sons Scott Michael (Sarah) Pendris of Concord, NH; Brian Gregory (Kathleen) Pendris of Bradford, NH and Thomas Christopher (Michelle) Pendris of Fletcher, VT; sister Joyce M. Stone of Essex, VT; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol was predeceased by her parents and brothers Robert C. Moody and Richard C. Moody.

The family Expresses Deep Appreciation and Thanks to Drs. Susanna Thach and Jennifer Gilwee, the staff of UVMMC Baird 4 Medicine and the fantastic team at The Arbors of Shelburne. Carol could not have had better care.

Reflecting Carol's wishes there will be no formal service. Her Cremains will be disbursed by her immediate family at a private event.
