Jason J. Giggie

PRESQUE ISLE: Jason J. Giggie 43, passed away Friday night May 5, 2023 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle after a hard-fought and courageous battle with melanoma. He was born June 5, 1979 in Presque Isle, the son of Jeffrey and Karen (King) Giggie. Jason was a graduate of PIHS, Class of 1997, and attended the University of Maine at Orono. He worked as the location Lead at Ace Car Rental in Presque Isle from 2018 until shortly before his death. Prior to Ace, Jason was employed in the deli at Walmart for several years. Having a generous and compassionate heart, Jason volunteered at the Central Aroostook Humane Society for 19 years; he truly loved each and every animal that came through their doors, and over the years brought many of them into his own home. Jason loved playing Skip-Bo with his mother in law Lucy and her mother Winnie Theriault, and he was considered the final champion. He was a huge fan of the Boston Bruins, attending a few games while in Boston over the past couple of years. Jason loved his animals and loved his family; he especially enjoyed time putting together Legos with his nephew, William. Jason had a unique sense of humor that will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Shanon (Shrout) Giggie of Fort Fairfield, his father Jeffrey Giggie of Presque Isle, his sister Melissa Dyer and her husband Brent of Presque Isle, his two nieces Elizabeth and Amelia, and a nephew William, his step father Robert Hilt of West Chapman, his mother in law Lucy Shrout of Fort Fairfield, and faithful dog Akira. He was predeceased by his mother Karen Hilt in September 2022. The family would like to thank the oncology department at NL-ARG, especially Dr. Emery, Dr. Tyler and Lindsay Ireland; Dr. Horne, dermatologist at NL-ARG; Dr. Tamara Sussman at Dana Farber in Boston; and the doctors, nurses and other staff at the Aroostook House of Comfort. A celebration of life will be held 11AM Saturday May 13, 2023 at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves and Pastors Granvill and Janice Lamb co- officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Central Aroostook Humane Society 24 Cross Street Presque Isle, ME 04769.
