He was a man of vision, integrity, compassion and most importantly he exuded love. Those lucky enough to know him instantly could feel his calm assured demeanor.

Larry was a Bridge Division Superintendent at the S.E. Johnson Company and later Plant Superintendent of many Stoneco Quarries retiring from Ottawa Lake, MI Quarry in 2011 after 30+ years of service to the company. A career he took great pride in. He won many awards including Quarry of The Year several times, Sentinels of Safety through the National Mining Association and a beautification award. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and is a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, Ohio. As well as being a member of the Buckeye Oliver Collectors and The H. Gerstner and Son’s President’s Club.

Larry was a visionary and a builder who had the natural ability to make those dreams come to life. Regardless if it was building his home, a landscape project, or beautification of the quarries he ran, or his skillful projects in woodworking, he created outstanding projects. He was also an avid collector and hobbyist of O-Scale trains, building a phenomenal train track around his family room.

He had the ability to encourage people, and fill them with confidence that changed lives. He left this world a much better place, with loving imprints on all our hearts that can never be forgotten or replaced.

As he joins his son, Joshua Norman, that he heartbreakingly missed for the past 28 years he leaves his wife of nearly 48 years, Dawn. Larry is survived by his children Luke (Kate) Hertzfeld of Swanton, Ohio, Michelle (Ross) Kersey of Davisburg, Michigan and David (Nicole) Hertzfeld of Delta, Ohio, grandchildren Peter Hertzfeld, Henry Hertzfeld, Claire Kersey, Kerrigan Kersey, Theodore “Teddy” Kersey, Ezekiel Hertzfeld and Forrest Hertzfeld and siblings Bonnie (John) Hanifan, Don (Linda) Hertzfeld, Mike (Kim) Hertzfeld, Mary (Art) Alexander, Richard (Laura) Hertzfeld, Theresa (Mark) Simon, Cathy (Dan) Ransberger, Kevin (Debbie) Hertzfeld and Joe (Carrie) Hertzfeld.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.
