Philip Anthony LaMonica Jr, age 70, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord, Friday morning April 28, 2023. Born October 4, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York, he graduated from Mannville High School, Manville, New Jersey in 1970, moving to Youngstown, Ohio in 2001. A devout Christian, the Bible played a significant role in his daily life. He freely shared his many gifts helping others, from restoring cars as an autobody professional, to fixing a variety of small engines including car mechanics, to replacing roofs, carpentry, painting, and any general construction. In later years, he became well known for selling items at area flea markets, around Youngstown, Ohio, and repairing small appliances and lawn equipment, which customers would drop off and he would repair while they shopped at the market. But his true passion encompassed a variety dancing with the love of his life, Janet, in particular his contra dancing community in Cleveland, Ohio. He also loved the arts that included the Phoenix Opera, symphony, poetry, theater, music in general and singing. He had a rare rapport with animals, once raising a baby sparrow, to loving his kitties Mr. Minky, Daisy and Pudgy. Phil and his wife enjoyed 15 years as snowbirds in Phoenix , residing at the Pioneer RV Resort.


He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Janet Moy, whom he married in 2004, his children Melissa (Alex) LaMonica Rojas, Michael ( Gabriela) LaMonica, Philip LaMonica III, and Daniel LaMonica; grandchildren Brandon Rojas, Tyler and Lilli LaMonica; siblings: Mary (James) Blue, Charles (Sue) LaMonica, Joseph LaMonica, brother-in-law Florian (Karla) Pamer, plus nephew Jeffrey (Jamie) Blue, Charles LaMonica Jr. niece Shannon (Jamie) LaMonica Savage, plus great nephews, nieces, cousins, special friends: „brother from another mother“ Jim Rak, Marlene Booher, Ollie McCurdy, David Mullins and the mother of his children Michael and Melissa, Maryann Nowosielski LaMonica Shoaf.


He was preceeded in death by his parents Philip and Mary LaMonica, in-laws Bill and Flora Pamer, sister-in-law Dee LaMonica, niece Kristine Marie Blue and mother of his children Philip III and Danny, Lori LaMonica.
