Donald “ the DA” Arthur Smith, 77, passed away in Machias on April 6, 2023. He was born October 21, 1945 in Roque Bluffs the son of the late Dorothy Beatrice (Wright) and Kenneth Byron Smith. He worked most of his life as a lobsterman, clam digger, and mechanic. He loved his music, and loved to spend time with family and friends having fun, and laughing. He also loved to go hunting, fishing, and drive his truck.

He is survived by his companion of 12 years Lanie Elsmore, and her daughter Cindy and her companion Ricky ; his two daughters; his close friend Marla Beam, which he considered a daughter, and her daughters -Jennifer Williams and Marie Beam ; grandchildren -Hailee and John ,Elesia Berry and her companion Nick; a brother Larry Smith; an aunt Helen Nicely; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son Wade Berry ; a brother Wayne Smith; an aunt Rosie Smith, and an uncle Russell Wright.
