Marjorie L. (Everett) Bishop

<p>Presque Isle -&nbsp;Marjorie Louise Everett Bishop, beloved wife of the late Dana H. Bishop, died April 22, 2023, at the age of 101. She was the cherished mother of Marcia, devoted grandmother of Emily and William and precious great-grandmother of Alexis, Mackenzie, Harrison and Delaney.</p><p><br></p><p>Marjorie, the daughter of T. Earle Everett and Lela Mae Mooers Everett, was born January 10, 1922, at the Sweetser-Connick Private Hospital on Dudley St. in Presque Isle, where she was one of the first babies delivered by Dr. Storer W. Boone. She was a graduate of Gouldville School, Presque Isle High School (1939) and Aroostook State Normal School (1942.) In 1962, she received a B.S. from the University of Maine. Her teaching career of 31 years began at Caribou Junior High School and continued in Presque Isle at the Training and Zippel Schools until her retirement in 1980.</p><p><br></p><p>Growing up on Turner St., she had an easy walk to Gouldville School and to her Everett grandparents’ home on Park St. for piano practice. She spent summers in Belfast with her Mooers family and the many friends she made there. Marjorie loved Mooers, Everett and Bishop family gatherings, as well as camping in the deep woods, summer days at Cathance Lake, reading, crossword puzzles and working with Marty and the Leisure Village Writers’ Group. She was a dedicated teacher, a graceful ice skater, a keen debater and an accomplished pianist and vocalist who accompanied countless musical concerts during her tenure at the Training School.</p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dana H. Bishop, two brothers, Eugene and Howard Everett and two sisters-in-law JoAnn Everett and Sylvia Z. Everett. Left to mourn are Marcia and David Fletcher, Emily and Andrew Murphy, William and Susan Fletcher, great-grandchildren Alexis, Mackenzie, Harrison and Delaney; brother Ronald Everett, sister-in-law Sylvia Peterson Everett, nieces, nephews and several Mooers and Everett cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>Marjorie was laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery. Donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory and in honor of all dedicated teachers to the Aroostook House of Comfort, PO Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
