Michael Peter Moll Obituary

Michael Peter Michael Moll, 63, passed away on Sunday evening April 30, 2017, at 7:45 p.m. at home surrounded by Wendy (Storch) Moll, his wife of 36 years, his son Peter M. Moll, and his daughter Dianna L. E. Moll. He was the son of the late Abner Jacob Moll and the late Ruth Marie (Putt) Moll; he is survived by his brother Thomas M. (Annie) Moll and his sister Mary E. (Ronald) Guziak of Wyomissing. Mike has nieces and nephews: Robert, Lisa, Brett, and Alex; grandnieces and nephews Carter, Ella, Samantha, and P.J.; cousins Peggy Kopp, Virginia Chudgar, John Moll, and Terri Pietruch. Michael was a loving and beloved husband, father, and a wonderful Christian. He attended Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Elementary School; he was an altar boy and a helpful custodian. Mike attended Wilson High School. He played football and swam on the swim team. He graduated in 1971 after taking the plumbing course at Berks East. After graduation, he learned heating at National Oil and Fuel Industry (NOFI) School in Lancaster. He worked for Chevron for a time and then Automotive Services for 7 years. He worked for Georgi Mushrooms and David Crystal. Mike was hired by the Reading School District, maintenance division. He went to Reading Muhlenberg Vo-Tech for 4 years. He worked for the Reading School District for 35 1/2 years. The last 27 years was as one of their journeyman electricians. He continued to take classes through the National Fire Protection Assoc. (NFPA) and the International Assoc. of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) until 2015 when he became ill. Mike was the Treasurer of the Reading Berks Electrical Assoc. for 7 years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Wyomissing Fire Company and an EMT for the state of Pennsylvania. Michael was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church for 27 years. He joined The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Nativity in 1980. He has been a synod representative, property chairman, council member, Sunday School teacher, and superintendent of the Junior Department. He sang in the Chancel Choir for 35 years. He made 127 prayer shawls. Michael sang with Opus One, under the direction of Christopher Hoster. Michael learned furniture refinishing from John Gilbert. He enjoyed making wooden items for family and friends. He also helped family members build a house. Services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., from Nativity Lutheran Church, 1501 North 13th St., Reading, with the Reverend Catherine A. Feil officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at Birdsboro Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nativity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
