Eric Jon Peavey Obituary

Eric Jon Peavey (Peav, Peav-Dog) age 59, died unexpectedly on April 16, 2023 at his home in Millinocket. Eric was born on January 20, 1964 to Norman L. Peavey Sr. and Barbara E. (Dumas) Peavey in Millinocket, Maine. He grew up in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School in 1982. Eric spent many years traveling with his various bands, playing drums, guitar and vocals. He eventually ended up in Las Vegas and worked as an instrument and sound technician for the Blue Man Group. He came back to Maine, lived in the Portland area and recently returned home to be with his family. Eric was a gifted musician and music remained a constant in his life. He used his creativity to design and build his own guitars and was an expert at fixing and setting up guitars for his friends and family. From a young age. Eric loved riding motorcycles, dirt bikes and skateboards. He was on a first name basis with many of the ER staff and the officers on the police force while he was growing up. Eric had a knack for making friends wherever he went. He made a lasting impression, whether it was good, bad or otherwise, people never forgot him. His sense of humor was legendary. He was quick with a joke,

one-liners, and funny stories. Eric could be found in a crowded room by following the laughter. He was also compassionate and genuinely cared about those close to him. His nieces and nephews consider him the Best Uncle Ever. Most importantly, Eric loved his family and friends and was loved in return.

Eric is survived by his mother Barbara (Mumsie), his older brother Jay Peavey and Lisa Caruso, his younger sister Beth Peavey and Adam Tapley, his nephews, Mark Peavey and Amanda (Ingalls), Andrew Tapley, and Alexander Tapley and his nieces Alyssa (Peavey) and Seth

McInnis, Angela (Tapley) and Jesse Castleberry, as well as his great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Eric was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his older sibling Mark Anthony Peavey, and his father, Norman Lloyd Peavey Sr.

We will celebrate Eric’s life the way he lived it, with music and laughter and raising our glasses on Sunday, April 30, 2023. This will be held at the Millinocket Elks Lodge on Aroostook Avenue beginning at 12:00. Casual dress is encouraged, Eric loved jeans, hoodies, and really cool

sneakers.

In lieu of flowers, please donate an instrument in Eric’s name to a child that otherwise might not have one, or to your local elementary or high school. He would love to know that he shared his love of music with the next generation.
