At the age of six (1941) Beulah became sick from an ear infection. She was taken to St Johns hospital. When she came home from the hospital she could no longer hear or speak. This created many challenges for her. 1955 Nov. 4, her wedding day and unable to talk, she wrote a note saying, “I DO” to the man of her dreams Samuel Ivany. Together they raised Two sons Ron & Michael along with a daughter Loretta. There was also another baby girl who is deceased. She was a very observant woman. When trouble was near, she seemed to have a sixth sense and do what was needed to protect and care for her family. Together they did many activities. Summertimes going to Catalina to pick berries. Then out in motorboat fishing. Beulah would join in with the family music playing the spoons while watching her mans feet to get the tempo. She was very smart with mathematics. She was a cook and seamstress second to none. Who can forget those cinnamon rolls and jam jams made to perfection. She also bandaged us when we were injured. Somewhere she acquired the ability to nurse us back to health when we were sick. Her disabilities did not stop her from excelling in many avenues of life.

During the late 50s Beulah attended a little church in Georges Brook, with her husband, where they both gave their lives to the Lord. This became a foundation they used to build the rest of their lives upon. In later years, at this church, Beulah received a touch from her heavenly father, and she made a sound. From that moment on Pop, as she endearingly called her man, began to teach her how to talk again.

Dec. 2016 Her husband Samuel passed away.
