Rumford- Dorothy J. Sherwood passed away on Sunday, April, 09, 2023 at Rumford Hospital with her daughter Sylvia and granddaughter Diane holding her hand. Born in Weymouth, ME on June 05, 1932. She was the daughter of Walter and Edith (Davis) Buckingham, Sr. She attended Schools in Abington, MA and Mexico, ME. Dorothy worked as a packer for American Mayflowers Moving Company in Nolanville, TX.

Dorothy was married to the late Earle H. Grant who passed on Dec. 1, 1987 and later married to the late Fred M. Sherwood who passed on April 19, 1996. She had three daughters: Sylvia Soule of Roxbury, ME; Geraldine Pratt and husband Rick of Alabama; and Nathalie Toomey of Elwood City, PA. two sons: Halson Grant and wife Debbie of Elwood City, PA and Gary Grant of Nolanville, TX. a sister: Eva Galanif, Enfield, NH. Other survivors include: many grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents, two brothers, Ralph Buckingham and Walter Buckingham, Jr and sisters, Carolyn Pitts and Eva Galanif.

Dorothy was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and she enjoyed bingo, knitting, crocheting, word puzzles, hook rugging and plastic canvas hooking.

Graveside services will be held later in the spring at the Farrington Morton Cemetery in Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St., Rumford, ME.
