William Thomas Frickey, 74, of Grantsville, MD, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD.

Born September 24, 1948, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of the late Mildred (Frickey) Durst. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Michael Frickey; grandparents, Earl T. and Sarah Katherine Frickey.

Mr. Frickey worked in the coal mining industry as well as a self-employed heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a Specialist Fourth Class in the 3d Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. While in service of his country, Bill received two Purple Hearts, two of The Army Commendations, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, Grantsville Squadron 214, Sons of the American Legion, Walker-Harris V.F.W. Post 8826, Salisbury, PA.

He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea (Todd) Brenneman, Hollsopple, PA; one sister, Kelly Durst, Grantsville; three grandchildren, Evan, Trenton and Jenna Brenneman.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in the Grantsville Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
