It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Owen Hoskins at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Center, Harbour Breton, NL on April 10th, 2023 at the age of 72, born 1950.

Owen leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara (Benoit); sons, Jamie (Tiffany) at St. Alban’s, NL, Shawn Hoskins at Ponoka, Alberta and Kirby (Trina) at Head of Bay d’ Espoir, NL; daughter, Dawn (Lucas Sullivan) at Harbour Breton, NL.; grandchildren, Isaiah, Sebastian, Keira, Brooke, Kinsley and Mya; sisters, Julie (Dennis Perry) at PEI, Bernadine Hoskins at PEI and Patricia (George Purdew) at England; brothers, George (Nancy) at Nova Scotia, Gregory (Claudine) at Head of Bay d’ Espoir, NL, Thad (Valerie) at Gander, NL, Gerard Hoskins at Head of Bay d’ Espoir, NL, Andrew (AnnMarie) at St.Alban’s, NL, Eddy (Sheila) at Ontario, and Geoff Hoskins at Toronto, ON; He is also survived by a large number of nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Owen is predeceased by his son, Dale Hoskins; mother and father, Edmund and Margaret Hoskins, St. Alban’s, NL; step father, Epiram Benoit, St. Albans, NL; mother and father in law, Jim and Hanna Benoit, Conne River, NL; sister, Mary Perry.

A special thank you to the Nurses and Staff of 4 North B at Health Science and H. Bliss Memorial Hospital, St. John’s, NL for the wonderful care over the last 7 months. To the Staff at the Cancer Clinic and the emergency department at Central Newfoundland Health Care Centre and to the Nurses at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Care Center for going above and beyond to ensure his care and comfort measures were a priority in his last remaining days.

Cremation has taken place as per his wishes.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 13 and Friday, April 14 at Spencer’s Funeral Home, St. Alban’s from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm both days.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Ignatius Church at St. Alban’s with Father Patrick Ousji officiating. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Alban’s.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Spencer’s Funeral Home, St. Alban’s.
