GREENE COUNTY, ALABAMA - Dustin James Kirk, 37, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 in an automobile accident in Alabama on his way home from vacation.
He was born on September 24, 1985 in Ashtabula, the son of Sampson and Patricia (Johnson) Kirk and had been an Ashtabula resident most of his life. A student at Kent State University, Dustin was a month away from graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration.
Dustin was a leader! He was mechanically inclined and loved to fix things. He had many hobbies including swimming, golfing, singing, fishing, boating, travelling, gardening, cooking, and glass blowing. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and bonfires and was a big fan of Japanese animated cartoon, Dragonball Z which was part of the reason for his favorite color – Orange.
He listened to and enjoyed all types of music. More than anything, Dustin loved being with and entertaining his family and friends. His unexpected loss will be felt forever by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Patricia Johnson and Dave Baker of Ashtabula; his father, Sampson Kirk of Florida; his fiancé, Shala Cade of Akron; his siblings, Desiree (Brad Blankenship) Kirk of Ashtabula, Shane (Samantha Davis) Kirk of Painesville, Matthew (Tiffany Gunter) Kirk of Ashtabula, April Kirk and Sammy (Misty) Kirk, both of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Gabriel Tilton of Wickliffe; a step-brother, Jeffrey (Katie) Baker of FL; step-sister, Jennifer Baker of Ashtabula; his paternal grandfather, James Kirk of Conneaut; nieces Maliyah and Ellyanna and many other nieces and nephews whom were very special to him; and numerous cousins, including his “close cousins” who were like siblings, Chad, Joshua, Amos Jr., and Christy.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rhoda Kirk; maternal grandparents, Bud and Joann Johnson; and his uncle, Amos Gildersleeve. He close cousin Adam Gildersleeve passed three days after him as well.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
A service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Church of the Living God, 1030 Bunker Hill Road, Ashtabula. Rev. Robert Falke, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Eagleville Cemetery, Austinburg Twp at a later date
