Elinor I. (Kuruc) Batiz, 89, of Gilpin Township passed away on Saturday, December 09, 2017 in her home. Born on March 25, 1928 on the Kuruc Homestead in Parks Township; Armstrong County she was a daughter of the late John and Susan (Rechalko) Kuruc. Elinor was a graduate of Vandergrift High School. She lived most of her life in Gilpin Township where she was a paper carrier for the Valley News Dispatch for many years and den mother for cub scout pack 555. Throughout her life she worked for various business in Vandergrift and was a cook at AJ’s Restaurant. She enjoyed traveling, camping, baking, crocheting and gardening. Everyone marveled at her beautiful flowers and cactus’s. Elinor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and cherished the time she spent with her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Batiz; grandsons, Joseph A. “Joey” Batiz and Gary Paul Batiz, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ryerson and Helen Korkes and brothers, John, Steve and Harry Kuruc. Elinor is survived by her children; Andrew (JoAnn) Batiz of Park Township, Ronald (Julie) Batiz of Gilpin Township, Cynthia (Mike) Titus of Naples, FL, Gary (Joni) Batiz of Bethel Township, Brian Batiz of Fort Myers, FL and Mary Sue Terrill of Gilpin Township; grandchildren, Andrea (Eric) McIntosh, Emily, Molly, Becky, Courtney, Gina and Jared Batiz, Kayla and Justin Titus and Taylor Mathurin; great grandson, Logan Mathurin; brothers, Joe Kuruc of Parks Township and David (Dorothy) Kuruc of Allegheny Township; sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Fabry and Susan Couslin both of Parks Township and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will welcome friends on Tuesday, December 12th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 300 Market Street, Leechburg. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 am with Pastor Thomas Holmes officiating. Burial will be private.
