<p>DEDHAM – Maria Rosa (Tranquillo) Cyr passed peacefully at home in Dedham March 30, 2023, with family by her side. She was born September 23, 1934 in Garzano, Italy, to Giuseppe and Felicia (Natale) Tranquillo.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Maria came to the U.S. at age 13 and became a naturalized citizen at 21. She attended many Maine schools and graduated from Brunswick High School. After graduation, she attended beauty school and, during that time, met her future husband on a blind date. They married in 1960 and recently celebrated 63 year of marriage. Maria enjoyed being a homemaker and, in later years, took up candlepin bowling with her best friend Kay Coleman. She also enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by her parents; sister Clorinda; brother Pasquale; niece Anna Maria. Maria is survived by loving husband Alfred; children Lori, Rick and wife Cathi, Wanda and husband Ralph, Tony and wife Tracey, Mary Lynn, Lisa; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>A very special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Maria in her last few months. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 900 Broadway Building 4, Bangor, ME 04401.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
