Marvin Howard Jamison Obituary

Marvin Howard Jamison, 87, formerly of Pawnee City, Nebraska took his first breath in Heaven on Thursday, March 30, 2023.  He was born on January 15, 1936, at home in Salem, Nebraska, to Joseph Melvin and Martha Elizabeth (Sipes) Jamison.

On January 29, 1956, Marvin was united in marriage to Zelma Irene Armstrong of Shubert, Nebraska, and they were married 63 years until Zelma’s passing on October 8, 2019.  There are many stories of what Marvin did between the Army and having a very successful painting and decorating business, which entailed “pulling himself up with his own boot straps” and working very hard.  He instilled a very strong work ethic in his children.

Marvin served in the National Guard and then on April 2, 1954, he entered active duty in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged on April 1, 1957.  Marvin was a member of the Brown-Hayes Legion Post #289. He ran his own business “Howard Jamison Painting and Decorating” in Omaha, Nebraska, for 25 years.  At age 47, he attended Ozark Christian College and graduated with the Degree of Bachelor of Biblical Literature.  Marvin then entered Christian ministry, preaching in various small churches in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming over the course of 36 years, and retired in 2019.  Marvin loved God, his family, and his Church people.  He was an outdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing, and he was a very talented artist and vocalist.  Collecting cookie jars was his hobby as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Melvin and Martha Elizabeth, a brother Jerry, a sister Marilyn Boyer, his step-mother Eliza (Pat) Kuker, his beloved wife Zelma, granddaughter Charissa Fitch, great-grandson Brandon Stewart, and great-grandbaby Campbell.

Marvin is survived by a son Steven (Mary) Jamison of Elk Creek, NE; and four daughters Sheila Bauermeister of Omaha, NE; Teresa (Don) Michael of Joplin, MO; Trina (Scott) Fitch of Saint James, MO; Susie (Mark) Kenyon of Cummings, KS; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

Celebration of Marvin's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Christian Church in Auburn, Nebraska with Pastor Scott Fitch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Here is the link for the funeral service: https://youtube.com/live/7vfJ0sUOui8?feature=share.
