Walter Edward Hamby, Jr. age 84 of Congerville, IL passed away at 9:05 PM on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at his residence. His funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Otto-Argo-Calvert Memorial Home, Carlock, IL with military rites accorded at the funeral home by the Bloomington -Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Rev. Steve Evans will be officiating. Burial will be at Wintz Cemetery, Carlock IL. Visitation will be will be10:00 AM-11:00 AM Thursday at the Otto-Argo-Calvert Memorial Home, Carlock, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois. Walter was born March 18, 1933 in Manzanola, Colorado the son of Walter Edward and Bernice Banes Hamby Sr. Walter moms died shortly after child birth, he was raised by Emma Hamby McGee. He married Laura Bell Hawkins on November 1, 1953 in Arkansas. She passed away December 15, 2015. Surviving is his nephew, Mike (Dawn ) Hawkins, Heyworth, IL, 2 brothers, Homer (Ruth) Hamby, Silver City, New Mexico, Donnie (Jan) Hamby, Las Vegas, Nevada and several beloved nieces and nephews Walter is preceded in death by his parents. Walter and his wife Laura had farmed in the Congerville area since 1962. They enjoyed farming together and raising livestock. He was loving husband and brother and uncle. He will be missed by all who knew him
